Hypertrophy of the muscle under the eye (Palpebral part of the Orbicularis Oculi Muscle) will form a bag under the eyes, casting shadows leading to dark eye circles effect.
Obviously dark eye circle products are not useful. Effective ways includes:
1. Botox® muscle relaxant (not suitable for those with eyelid wrinkles)
2. Neutralize with a very light concealer/foundation in the eye shadow area
3. Lifting the head and look downward slightly will eliminate the muscle, this can be done especially when taking photos
